Story says that once Lord Shiva challenged his sons, Kartikeya and Ganesha, stating that whoever completed seven rounds of the universe first would be worshipped before all other gods.

While Kartikeya set off on a long journey around the universe, Lord Ganesha simply circled Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, declaring them as the universe itself. Pleased with his wisdom, Lord Shiva granted Ganesha the honour of being worshipped first.

When Kartikeya returned and learned what had happened, he renounced his physical body in devotion and offered his bones to Lord Shiva. This divine sacrifice is what makes Kartik Swami Temple so spiritually powerful.
